Managing Positions

How to view, modify, partially close, and manage open and pending positions on forex and futures platforms.

All positions and orders are managed from the Positions Panel at the bottom of the terminal. Works with MT4, MT5, TradeLocker, cTrader, DXTrade, Tradovate, and NinjaTrader accounts.

Tabs

Tab Content
Active Open positions with real-time P&L
Pending Pending orders (Limit/Stop) waiting to execute
Closed Historical closed positions with summary statistics

Clicking a tab while the panel is minimized auto-expands it.

View Modes

Toggle between Card and List view using the grid/list icon in the toolbar. Your preference is saved automatically.

Card View

Each position shows:

  • Top row: Currency flags, symbol, type badge (BUY/SELL), volume, and P&L
  • Middle row: Entry price, current market price, SL, TP, and action buttons (Modify, Partial Close, Close)
  • Bottom row: Open time, commission/fee, swap, and ticket ID

List View

A sortable table with columns: Currency flags, Symbol, Type, Volume, Entry, Market, SL, TP, Open Time, Fee, Swap, ID, Profit, and Actions.

Sorting

Sort positions using the Sort dropdown:

Option Order
Open Time (default) Oldest first
Profit Highest P&L first
Symbol Alphabetical
Volume Largest volume first

Closing a Position

Close Position:
Close Position
Partial Close:
Partial Close

Click the X button on a position card or row. A confirmation appears, then a success notification shows the symbol, direction, volume, realized profit, and price range.

Sound effects play based on the outcome: a profit sound for profitable closes, a loss sound for losses.

Partial Close

Reduce the size of an open position without closing it entirely.

Radial Partial Close Slider

Click the partial close button to open the slider in the Order Panel:

  • Drag left or right to set the close percentage (1-99%)
  • Tap the percentage labels on either side to jump in 25% increments
  • Type a lot value directly in the input field
  • The dial turns amber for partial closes and red when approaching 100%
  • An estimated profit shows the expected P&L for the selected portion

The default partial close percentage is configurable in settings (default: 50%).

Platform Differences on Partial Close

Platform Behavior
MT4 MT4 Creates a new ticket for the remaining portion
MT5 MT5 Keeps the same ticket, reduces volume
TradeLocker TradeLocker Keeps the same ticket, reduces volume
cTrader cTrader Keeps the same ticket, reduces volume
DXTrade DXTrade Partial close is not supported
Tradovate Tradovate Keeps the same ticket, reduces volume. Bracket orders (SL/TP) stay attached
NinjaTrader NinjaTrader Keeps the same ticket, reduces volume. Bracket orders (SL/TP) stay attached

Modifying a Position

SL/TP on Forex vs Futures

On forex platforms (MT4, MT5, TradeLocker, cTrader, DXTrade), SL and TP are fields on the position. Modifying them updates the position directly.

On futures platforms (Tradovate, NinjaTrader), SL and TP are separate bracket orders (OSO). Modifying SL/TP updates the bracket orders. When you fully close a position, all remaining bracket orders are automatically cancelled.

Click the pencil button on a position row, or click anywhere on a position card (excluding buttons), to open the edit interface in the Order Panel.

Modify Tab

Modify Tab
  • Choose TP/SL type (Price, Pips, Ticks, Balance, Percentage)
  • Toggle SL and/or TP on/off
  • Edit SL/TP values
  • For pending orders: an additional Entry Price field is shown
  • For futures accounts: Ticks type is available, SL/TP are shown as bracket orders
  • Discard and Confirm buttons to apply or cancel changes

Partial Close Tab

Partial Close Tab

The radial partial close slider (see above).

Full Close Tab

Full Close Tab

A confirmation screen showing position details and current P&L, with a red Close Position button.

When Reset After Modify is enabled in settings, values reset to defaults after a successful modification.

Modifying Pending Orders

  1. Find the order in the Pending tab
  2. Click the order to open the edit interface
  3. In the Modify tab, change entry price, SL, and TP
  4. Pending orders do not have Partial Close or Full Close tabs

Canceling Pending Orders

Click the close (X) button on a pending order row to cancel it.

Close All

The Close All button in the toolbar closes all open positions at once:

  • A confirmation dialog appears before execution (unless disabled in settings)
  • Progress is tracked with a loading indicator
  • On success: shows count of closed positions, total profit, current balance, and equity
  • On partial success: reports how many positions closed and how many failed
  • A sound effect plays on completion

Futures Note: On Tradovate/NinjaTrader, Close All also cancels all pending bracket orders (SL/TP) associated with the closed positions.

Real-Time P&L

Active positions update in real-time:

  • P&L displayed in your account’s base currency
  • Color-coded: green for profit, red for loss
  • Aggregate total P&L shown in the Positions Panel header
  • Account stats: Balance, Equity, Margin, Free Margin, Margin Level

Closed Positions

The Closed tab loads historical data when you click it:

  • Time period filter: 24h, 7d, 30d, Today, This Week, This Month, This Year, All Time
  • Summary statistics: Total P&L, Total Lots, Fees, Swap, Net P&L
  • Data refreshes automatically when you switch time periods
  • Shows the time since last refresh
  • Supports both card and list views
